Manual trucks, such as forklift trucks, are still essential in intralogistics alongside automated systems. However, processes will only be efficient and employees safe if the operator is able to operate the truck correctly, quickly and safely.
In most manufacturing and transport companies, a forklift truck licence is a sought-after qualification for warehouse and logistics employees. However, the law demands stringent training to acquire and retain a forklift truck licence. As a leading manufacturer of many industrial trucks, we offer our customers training for forklift truck licences as part of our services. Plus, everything comes from a single source!
When it comes to forklift truck licences, we hear the same questions time and time again. We have compiled the most frequent questions and answers here.
To obtain a level 1 forklift truck licence, you must pass a theory test and a practical test. As part of the Jungheinrich operator training for forklift trucks, the theory test is carried out using a multiple-choice questionnaire with around 50 questions. In exceptional cases, an oral examination can be carried out instead, for example for participants who do not have sufficient command of the German language to complete a questionnaire. All of the information required to acquire the forklift truck licence is taught intensively in theory lessons beforehand.
During the practical part of the forklift truck licence exam, the operator must complete a test drive of around 15 to 20 minutes using a forklift truck. The test drive must include tasks such as picking up and depositing loads and driving the forklift truck between racks. The forklift operator must prove that they know how to operate the industrial truck correctly and can drive the forklift truck safely.
The demand for good forklift truck operators is high, so investing in a forklift truck licence is always worthwhile. The price for the training is well below the cost of a standard car licence and can vary regionally and in terms of the duration of the training. If you are interested, simply contact your local Jungheinrich branch. They will specify a location to carry out the forklift truck licence training. Alternatively, you can find the current prices for Jungheinrich operator training in our booking portal.
We offer forklift truck operator training courses at several locations. Your employees can either take part in forklift truck licence training at our training and sales centres or we can provide an expert trainer. The forklift truck training will then be carried out on your own premises.
Anyone who would like to obtain a forklift truck licence and operate an industrial truck independently must meet the following criteria:
At least 18 years of age
Trained and well suited to the job
Must have demonstrated their ability
Medical check-ups must be carried out to determine the physical aptitude of the operator to hold a forklift truck licence in accordance with DGUV Principle G 25 relating to occupational medical examinations "Travel, control and monitoring activities".
As with a standard car licence, the minimum age for a forklift truck licence is 18. As part of vocational training, for example as a warehouse specialist, young people under the age of 18 are also permitted to operate industrial trucks and forklift trucks under professional supervision.
Have you mislaid your Jungheinrich forklift truck licence? Don't worry. Please contact us and we will quickly send you a replacement.
There is no expiry date for our forklift truck licence. However, the truck operator must also have a written transport order. Both components are required for the forklift truck licence to be valid. The licence should be withdrawn if the operator cannot demonstrate sufficient and regular driving experience over a period of one year.
All counterbalance forklift trucks, reach trucks and tiller trucks can be operated with the standard forklift truck licence. With appropriate training, the forklift truck licence is valid for all truck with forks that are not able to lift the operator vertically.
For vehicles such as narrow-aisle trucks that are able to vertically lift the operator, Jungheinrich offers additional level 2 training including abseiling training.
